Honing your spirit
When the world seems busy with its own affairs, be a Christian occupied with the work of God. Be interested in reading the scriptures and progress through spiritual readings. Read those religious books that will help you widen your knowledge about those things of the spirit and of honing your character.
Be pious and through the length of time, be familiar with the verses, the content of the bible and the things found in religious books. These can help you grow and obtain strength like those of the desert fathers that have been familiar of spiritual wilderness. Above all, familiarize the Bible, reading the New Testament first then the Old Testament.
Memorize the order of the books of the Bible from Genesis to Malachi, then from Matthew to Revelation. Mark the verses that catch your interest and those that are doctrinal by underlining it or coloring it with marking pens. By doing this, you will be acquainted and familiar with the contents of the Bible.
One way to grow in spiritual wisdom is to buy religious books and read them. Choose your spiritual readings and have books that are your favorites. Select from those being sold, books that are meaty in content, usually easy to read and understand. Choose also from those that cater hard doctrine or the deep readings.
Be refreshed while reading the Bible and other religious books and spiritual readings. Reading them is a good past time. Make it as a habit, thanking God at every inspiration derived from it. Avoid mixed devotions. Be inspired each day through the contents of the books praying before reading.
Don’t settle for less. Instead, crave for more. Take time to read, learning lessons of life while familiarizing some lines. You can write poems out of your readings or be interested in spiritual or religious articles. Be occupied and enjoy the moment. Be happy about what you read! Pray for guidance, and let your heart be comforted.
Reading books like these that I have mentioned can help you grow and nourish your interest in matters of God and character. Don’t ignore what I say unto you, but build your dreams with the guidance of these books. Learn all you can manage to collect in your thoughts. Be open for new things but be not easily deceived.
Row your boat in the journey of life, learning all you can; sharing to others what you have read. A good way to keep things read etched in your memory is to write about them. Keep records of the things that interest you, writing them neatly in notebooks. When the word of God is preached, do the same taking notes of what is being said.
You can witness or testify about what you have read. By sharing the things you read to others, who knows? You can help them obtain salvation. Be a good proclaimer of the gospel that Christ died, was buried and was raised again. Support the scriptures with what you have read from religious books and spiritual readings.
