Spirit of levity
The harshness of the present situation
cannot disturb the composed nature of the man that has surpassed the desert
time. Instead of being depressed over some discouraging realities, he grows in
trust to Jesus and become even closer to him.
All
he does was to prepare his soul for the nearing coming of the Lord. He takes
comfort in the breast of the Master as the Spirit of God fills him continually.
Nothing can take him away from the heart of God as long as he does not permit
such situation. Though he’s alarmed of the impending danger he prepares himself
with repentance, baptism and the Holy Ghost.
He
heeds the counsel of the elders, love his neighbor even more, attend Sunday
obligation in the church, have him cleanse by confession and does his usual
chores thinking of God and praying to him everytime especially during daily
spiritual routine. He gets himself captured by what wonder the love of God is
continually doing.
He
is always excited by every little miracle day by day. He is pleased everytime
there is a good thing occurring and calls to God especially when there is
distress. He never confines himself to selfish isolation but even desire that
he be acquainted with people. If he was lighthearted he may also have a good
sense of humor.
You
can be this man I am talking about. It is always pleasing for Jesus if we are
happy that he has blessed us and are happy to be light in spirit like him. How
can we be like angels except if we have the spirit of levity. This is why
Angels fly. I do not say that we also should have wings. We just need to be
free of the burdens of the heart.
We
need to have our heart cleansed everytime, relating to people in a convenient
and joyful way even we just prefer to listen, to smile or give response. If God
prefers the sacrifice of Abel, it is because he offers the best from among
those animals he tend. In the same way we should not offer to God only the left
over but the best from us.
If
some lack the spirit of levity, it is because they mourn or frown instead of
rejoicing. You can even rejoice without having it noticed by others and thank
God that you bear a lighthearted spirit because of God’s indwelling. We should
be happy in whatever way God is consoling or complimenting us.
We
then go deeper in our relationship with God if we feel light and happy as if
saying to God that we are pleased with the day’s creation and blessing. If we
prefer to frown than smile, we would only grow more wrinkles in our forehead.
It is a good thing imitating Jesus light about himself, which is maybe one of
the reasons why he walks on the water aside from the reality that he is God.
Enter
the strait gate happy about what God is doing that we may be accepted to and be
mixed with his angels. This could only be possible if we like them have the
Spirit of God and is happy about having also the spirit of levity.
